SACRAMENTO, May 21 (UPI) -- Authorities in Sacramento said a woman was arrested after she allegedly tried to smuggle 12 pounds of marijuana onto an airplane.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said Rachael Ann Wilson, 29, allegedly hid the cannabis in coffee cans in two cardboard boxes that were checked at the US Airways ticket counter, KCRA-TV, Sacramento, reported Wednesday.

However, Transportation Security Administration officials said one of the boxes was too large to fit into an X-ray machine, so it was opened and the pot was discovered.

Wilson was arrested on the Georgia-bound plane before takeoff and was taken to Sacramento County Main Jail. Her arraignment in Sacramento Municipal Court has been scheduled for next Tuesday.
