REGINA, Saskatchewan, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- The Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation is trying to recover funds lost when a Regina, Canada, casino self-redemption kiosk gave out $20 bills instead of $5 bills.

The company said $13,400 of the $27,500 taken by patrons who were mistakenly issued the twenties instead of fives at Casino Regina has been recovered. All those identified on security video as taking the money without notifying officials have been banned from the casino and all properties owned by the corporation, the Regina Leader-Post reported Thursday.

The money confusion occurred because the bill cassettes at the kiosk that were supposed to be loaded with $5 bills were instead filled with twenties. The company said the cassettes are being permanently labeled to prevent future incidents.

Officials said they are exploring civil action to recover the remaining money. They said the Regina Police Service has been notified of the incident.
