POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y., Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Vice President Dick Cheney, whose most famous hunt ended when he shot a Texas lawyer, plans to go after birds in the Hudson Valley in New York.

Cheney plans to be at the Clove Valley Rod & Gun Club in Lagrangeville, The Poughkeepsie Journal reported. The New York Daily News said that when it called the club seeking confirmation, the man at the other end of the phone would say nothing about it.

The club advertises pheasant, duck and Hungarian partridge available for shooting.

The vice president made a previous visit to the club in November 2001 under security so tight that the news only leaked out because of the presence of Secret Service agents in the area.

Last year, Cheney accidentally peppered Harry Whittington, a 78-year-old Republican, while bird hunting in Texas. The vice president's office waited 24 hours before releasing the news, a delay that may have helped build it into a major story.
