WACO, Texas, July 3 (UPI) -- A Waco, Texas, man who placed a hidden camera in a women's restroom was released early from jail due to an apparent error.

Former Bruceville-Eddy school superintendent Dan Doyen, who pleaded guilty to two counts of improper photography or visual recordings for placing a camera disguised as an air freshener in the women's restroom at the Bruceville-Eddy school administration building, was released from the McLennan County Jail after serving only a few days of his 30-day sentence.

Doyen, who was given the jail time as a condition of his five-year probation sentence, was ordered by Judge Matt Johnson to serve the entirety of the 30-day sentence with no provision for time off for good behavior.

However, Doyen was released at 1:24 a.m. Friday. Contacted by phone Monday, Doyen said he was headed back to jail and his release was apparently in error.

"I think they made a mistake," Doyen said. "There must have been something wrong with the paperwork or something like that."

Johnson said Doyen will be made to serve an additional three days to make up for the weekend he spent out of jail.
