NEW YORK, June 16 (UPI) -- A timely break for freedom in New York City has earned a lucky sheep a get-out-of-jail card in the form of a trip to an animal sanctuary.

The ewe, which was given the nickname "Lucky Lady," was trucked to the more-bucolic Watkins Glen Friday and a new home at the Farm Sanctuary.

The New York Daily News said Lucky Lady was still wearing the USDA ear clip she had on when she arrived in the Big Apple this week for an ultimate date with the butcher block. The animal instead broke free and led a merry chase through the South Bronx before one of New York's Finest made the collar several blocks away on East 133rd Street.
