ASHKELON, Israel, March 23 (UPI) -- Some "immodest" billboards with pretty models have become targets of paint-toting vandals in the Israeli town of Ashkelon.

Authorities are looking for the self-appointed censors who are splashing paint on the pretty pictures to cover what some consider indecency.

Yossi Pertok, the signs' franchiser, is furious at the "sick people who walk around with a bucket and a paintbrush and just paint the signs" which "did not show any exposed organ or immodest picture."

The National Religious Party, a natural suspect, says it did nothing to deface "those signs of abomination."
