VISTA, Calif., Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Vista, Calif., city officials decided to place a dispute with a local merchant over his 7-foot-tall Santa on hold until the end of the holidays.

Patrick Johnson, assistant to the city manager, said the city has given the owner of Vista's Postal Centre, Gary Wayman, until the beginning of 2007 to take down his inflatable 7-foot motorcycle-riding Santa, as well as remove the stereo that has been playing from his store's entryway, the North County Times reported.

Wayman has already been given two citations and fines of $100 and $200 for violating city codes and not having a permit for the inflatable figure. The city refused to issue the permit.

The storeowner did remove the display, citing that he was just promoting holiday cheer and the Christmas spirit, he told the newspaper.
