Advertisement Jerry Rose, 29, was arraigned Friday in U.S. District Court in Jackson (Mich.) for murder and armed robbery in the death of 60-year-old Edgar Hawkes last March, the Jackson Citizen-Patriot reported. Rose's former girlfriend tipped off police that he made the admission while playing a "What's-the-stupidest-thing-you've-ever-done?" game, the newspaper said. Hawkes' wife and their 14-year-old granddaughter found him shot to death at the bottom of his basement stairs when they returned home from shopping on March 14. A large amount of cash and a .22-caliber rifle were missing from the house. Rose is jailed without bond pending a preliminary examination Nov. 15. Advertisement Naked man carrying concealed tool EL CERRITO, Calif., Nov. 7 (UPI) -- A Southern California man newly released from prison is facing charges of being naked in public and having a 6-inch awl concealed in his backside. Police in El Cerrito, Calif., were summoned Thursday morning with reports of a naked man masturbating on a tree stump near a rapid transit stop, the Contra Costa Times, a California newspaper, reported Monday. Police located and arrested John Sheehan, 33, on a charge indecent exposure, and before seating him in a cruiser, Sgt. Paul Keith asked him if he had anything on him that police should know about. Detective Don Horgan said Sheehan volunteered that he had a 6-inch awl wrapped in electrical tape in his anal cavity. Keith summoned the fire department, who declined to extricate the tool, and an ambulance was then called. However, Horgan said Sheehan volunteered to remove the tool himself and did so at gunpoint. He offered no explanation as to why the awl was there, the report said. Police added one felony count of possessing a concealed weapon to his arrest sheet, Horgan said. Dogs bite off man's nose, owner charged HALLS CREEK, Australia, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- An Australian man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm after allegedly setting his dogs on to another man whose nose was bitten off in the attack. Advertisement Police in the outback town of Halls Creek, in northeastern Australia, said the 48-year-old victim had his nose bitten off and suffered other severe bites to his face. He was flown to a hospital in Perth to have his nose reattached. Police Senior Sgt. David Hornsby told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation the two men became involved in a fight Sunday night, with the 41-year-old dog owner urging dogs to attack the victim. The accused is to appear in halls Creek court on Tuesday and authorities are considering whether to have the animals destroyed. The 'F-word' gets its own movie NEW YORK, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- An independent filmmaker has produced a movie titled, and all about the history of the English language's most vulgar "F-word," the New York Post reported. "I've always been intrigued with this one specific word that can be used in so many ways -- as a noun, a verb or an exclamation," filmmaker Steve Anderson told the newspaper. The film traces the linguistic history of the word and offers thoughts on the word from such diverse people as Miss Manners to porn star Ron Jeremy. The movie also attained the dubious honor of containing the biggest number of uses of the F-word at more than 800, bumping out the previous record holder, Gary Oldman's "Nil by Mouth," which included it 428 times. Advertisement Marketing the work will be a challenge, as most newspapers and magazines won't publish the film's title, broadcasters will avoid it and many movie houses would be reluctant to put its title on a marquee, the Post said.
