Police use GPS to find suspect's phone

BOSTON, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Boston police said they were able to find a suspect in a police shooting by using a Global Positioning Satellite system to track his cell phone calls.

Michael Addison was arrested Monday while hiding out at the elderly housing apartment of a relative, the Boston Herald reported Tuesday.

Addison stands accused in the Monday morning shooting of Manchester, N.H., bike patrol officer Michael Briggs. Addison had been wanted in connection with a Manchester robbery. Briggs was hit in the head and was in critical condition Monday evening.

Addison had previously been arrested in 1996 for unlawful possession of a firearm and in 1997 for attempted murder, a source told the Herald.
