Michael Watson of Blyth, Northumberland, England, allegedly grabbed his wife, Patricia, around the neck, causing her to fall to the ground after she tried to take his wedding ring and watch, officials charged.

The newspaper said he allegedly let go of her only when she reminded him they were both Christians.

Patricia Watson told police that she thought her husband was going to kill her. Michael Watson, who admitted to attacking his wife, spent three weeks in jail until his wife agreed to take him back into their home.

Watson was ordered to undergo two years supervision, the newspaper said.
