SYDNEY, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- An Internet game in which players avenge the death of Australian celebrity Steve Irwin by shooting stingrays is drawing tepid reviews among gamers.

Named for the "Crocodile Hunter's" wife, "Terri's Revenge" pits players against moving stingrays, whose screen image resembles Terri Irwin fires at them while trying to avoid getting barbed by the rays.

Steve Irwin was killed eight days ago by a giant ray while filming over the Great Barrier Reef, and his popularity was so great his loss was lamented in Parliament.

Accordingly, the game has drawn criticism for insensitivity on the MoFunZone Web site, the newspaper said.

"We are getting mixed reactions from our visitors regarding this game," said one of its creators, Josh Tuttle, in a site statement. We should make it clear, this game is intended to be a memorial and NOT a funny parody."
