Humberto Rodriguez, 52, was charged Friday with animal cruelty after agents from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals found the rooster's headless body on the fire escape outside his apartment. Advertisement Rodriguez allegedly confessed to chomping down on the 6-pound rooster's neck because it had attacked one of his pet baby pigeons, the Post reports. He allegedly said he became enraged and wanted to discipline the bird. The rooster's head has not been discovered. An examination also found the rooster, which Rodriguez owned for six months, suffered from two broken wings, an ASPCA spokesman said, adding it is also illegal to possess a live rooster in New York City. Rodriguez faces up to a year in prison if convicted.
