BOSTON, July 21 (UPI) -- A wannabe rock star who didn't show up for jury duty because it was interfering with his band faces charges of non-performance in Boston Municipal Court.

Seth Romano, 24, failed to attend jury duty last May on the second day of a brutal home invasion and rape case. He then allegedly showed up on the third day, claiming he'd missed the previous day because he'd had a late night with band mates the previous evening. the Boston Herald reported.

Suffolk Superior Court Judge Patrick F. Brady could be called as a witness if Romano's case goes to trial.

"Jury duty is an important obligation for every citizen and our fair and impartial system of justice depends on it," said Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley.

Conley said he commended Brady for his actions.

Romano, who could not be reached for comment, faces a $2,000 fine.
