GIG HARBOR, Wash., Feb. 7 (UPI) -- The principal of a Washington state high school says that a photo of a boy with his fly open was "not appropriate" for the student newspaper.

Principal Patricia Scott at Peninsula High School in Gig Harbor, Wash., suppressed the embarrassing moments issue of the Peninsula Outlook, the Tacoma (Wash.) News-Tribune reported.

Scott called the student journalists who put out the Outlook "great kids," but she said they sometimes need guidance.

"They're students, and they're learning what's appropriate and not appropriate," Scott said.

The offending issue also included a picture of a tampon.

Scott told the newspaper she reminded the students of a standing rule that any doubtful material for the paper is supposed to be cleared with her first.
