New Yorkers like mayor but not for dinner

NEW YORK, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- The Quinnipiac Poll finds, as it has for several years, a majority of New Yorkers would rather not have Thanksgiving dinner with their mayor.

Of those surveyed, 53 percent rejected Mayor Michael Bloomberg, while 44 percent said they would like to share turkey with him, the Daily News reported. Presumably, the remaining 3 percent were undecided.

There was a marked gender gap with 60 percent of women turning thumbs down, compared to 44 percent of men.

"They voted for him, they approve of him, but they don't want to eat with him," said Quinnipiac University poll director Maurice Carroll.

The mayor's favorable ratings are at a record high, so some analysts believe that the poll shows only that people prefer to share family holidays with family and friends.
