JAKARTA, June 13 (UPI) -- Indonesia's President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who prides himself on being accessible to everyone, had his cell phone die from overuse.

Speaking to a group of farmers Saturday, Yudhoyono gave out his cell number, which local media spread to the national media.

"If you think (we) don't care, never come to you and your problems are left unsettled, my cellular phone is active 24 hours a day," he said.

By late Sunday, the cellular service crashed after some 3,000 people tried calling, the BBC said.

"The president did not expect such an incredible response and interest from the public," said presidential spokesman Andi Mallarangeng.
