LARAMIE, Wyo., May 3 (UPI) -- Two men in Laramie, Wyo., have been charged with obscenity for erecting a snow sculpture in their yard resembling a giant penis.
Brandon Arp, 20, and Aric Davenport, 19, were arraigned Friday in Albany County Circuit Court for building the sculpture April 21 that was reportedly "offensive to other residents in the area," the Casper Star-Tribune reported.
They pleaded not guilty and were released on $1,000 bail.
Michael Vang, Davenport's attorney, said the state obscenity law is "selectively enforced" and his client's artwork is protected under the First Amendment.
An "anatomically correct snowman" was also destroyed a few blocks away on the same day.
