A judge, considering his age, sentenced Neil Smith to stay at home for 30 days under electronic monitoring, placed him on two years probation and ordered him to pay $900 in veterinary bills to the cat's owners and perform 100 hours of community service, KMGH-TV, Denver, reported Thursday. Advertisement Smith had pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty as part of a plea bargain. Smith admitted he put a dish of gelatin laced with antifreeze next to a dish of tuna outside his mobile home last August. Smith said he was hoping to make a problem cat sick and did not intend for any cats to die.
