DENVER, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Park officials in Denver have caused a stink with a money-saving proposal to begin cleaning public toilets more thoroughly -- but less frequently.
Some City Council members are concerned a public-health crisis could erupt if public toilets aren't attended on a regular basis, the Denver Post reported.
"No matter what budget you put out there, there's always something that's going to raise a stink," Mayor John Hickenlooper said after a budget hearing.
Denver's Parks and Recreation Department says it can save $175,000 a year with a scaled-down schedule.
"Dirty bathrooms drive women out of parks," complained Councilwoman Carol Boigon.
