PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Philadelphia police officers waited three hours outside a church Sunday to arrest a worshiper for the deaths of two people, the Inquirer reported Monday.

Lyndell Swinson was wanted for two shooting deaths when he entered the Mount Airy Church of God in Christ.

Although he had altered his appearance, an unidentified person recognized him and told the preacher, who also is a Philadelphia police lieutenant.

"When I heard he was there, I put aside my ministerial duties and switched roles," said Police Lt. Norman Davenport, who alerted homicide officers.

A SWAT team promptly arrived and waited for the three-hour worship service to end.

Swinson's arrest went so smoothly, many parishioners did not even know police had arrested a suspected killer.
