NEW DELHI, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- A painter in India has drawn 56 portraits of a leading Indian politician with his own blood.

The artwork will be exhibited Tuesday coinciding with the 56th birthday celebrations of Jayalalithaa, the chief minister of southern Tamil Nadu state.

Popular karate exponent, sculptor and painter, Shihan Hussaini, drew four bottles of blood (1,400 ml) with medical assistance in a span of 20 days and used them in his drawings.

"I am very satisfied with the spectacular aesthetic result of my effort and I wish the chief minister sees all my paintings," Hussaini said. He plans to take these paintings to schools and colleges to inspire people to donating blood.

Hussaini, a post-graduate in social work, was in the news recently for sculpting a 31-foot bronze statue of Kalpana Chawla, an Indian-born NASA astronaut who died in Columbia disaster.
