E-RANTS FILL CHANCELLOR'S MAILBOX

New York City School Chancellor Joel Klein has invited teachers to e-mail him their concerns and they are doing just that.

The New York Post reports Klein has received many "e-rants" about bulletin boards, classroom assignments, unruly students, uninvolved parents and lack of supplies.

United Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten encouraged teachers to write not only the chancellor but Mayor Michael Bloomberg as well.

Many teachers are unhappy with the micromanagement of the school board. One item that seems to irk teachers the most were deadlines to spruce up bulletin boards.

"We actually received a memo last year as to how a bulletin board should look and the various elements it should contain," writes a teacher in the Bronx.

CELL PHONE EXPLODES

A man in Malaysia suffered burns on his butt when his cell phone exploded beside him while he was sleeping, Sky News reports.

Mohamed Radzuan Yasin says his phone was recharging on his bed while he took a nap.

"The explosion scalded my buttocks, while there were burn marks on the mattress and the wall," he tells the Bernama news agency.

"At first I was confused about what had exploded, but I realized it was my mobile (cell) phone when I saw it was shattered in pieces.

SURVEY: LOVE IS NOT BLIND

A new survey confirms that love is not blind and what people really want is an attractive spouse.

Most people would like to change at least one feature on their partner's face -- in order of preference: hair, wrinkles, nose, mouth, eyes and ears, reports the New York Post.

"This survey shows that love is not blind and has an eye for improvement," says Dr. Keith LaFerriere, president of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Almost 60 percent of the women and 54 percent of the men say they'd like to change one of their partner's facial features.
