DETROIT, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Most frequently misspelled city in the United States, according to a study by ePodunk.com, is Pittsburgh.

The government is partly to blame, reports the Detroit News, whose own city, often misspelled "Detriot" and "Detrote," features at No. 13. The U.S. Board on Geographic Names decreed in 1890 that the final "h" of anywhere ending in "burgh" be dropped. Pittsburgh citizens protested and 21 years later their "h" was restored.
