STUDENTS, DOCTORS LEAD IN WRECKS

Fifteen percent of students get in car wrecks -- the highest of any occupation -- and luckily for them a doctor is likely to be at the scene because medical doctors rank second in accident rates, CNN/Money reports.

San Francisco-based Quality Planning Corp. helps insurance companies rate driver risk and finds attorneys, architects and real estate agents round out the top five most crash-prone occupations.

"The numbers blow big holes in the conventional wisdom about which professions are accident prone or dangerous drivers," says Daniel Finnegan, president of QPC.

Following students, 11 percent of doctors end up in car wrecks while just 4 percent of farmers get into accidents while driving a car.

LOUDEST FUNDRAISER: 'LOVE RIDE'

It may not raise the most money for charity, but it may be the noisiest fundraiser -- the 20th annual Love Ride had an estimated 20,000 participants on motorcycles.

Thousands of bikers donned helmets and leathers and caravanned from Glendale, Calif., to Castaic in one of the world's largest motorcycle fundraisers, the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

The officials estimated this year's event had raised more than $1 million for charity, adding to the estimated $15 million raised in previous runs.

Love Ride regulars Peter Fonda and Jay Leno warmed up the crowd before the thundering pack moved.

"How many people here are on parole?" Leno asked, as the crowd raised their hands and roared with laughter.

BRITISH KIDS THINK TV TOO SEXY

Two-thirds of British children have seen TV shows in which they thought there was "too much" sex, the London Telegraph reports.

The study, commissioned by the British Broadcasting Standards Commission, the Independent Television Commission and the BBC looked at how children interpreted sex in the media.

The majority of children felt they had seen TV shows or videos with too much sexual content, but only 36 percent chose to stop watching.

The study also says only 34 percent of children considered fathers to be useful sources of information when it came to sex and relationships, compared to more than 66 percent who say the media and mothers were good sources.

EX-CONVICTS HIRED AS GUARDS

A private security company in New York City allegedly hired ex-convicts as unlicensed security guards to protect seniors in federally funded housing, the New York Post reports.

Guards convicted of rape and assault were on the payroll at DGI Distinguished Gentlemen's Investigations, according to New York Secretary of State Randy Daniels.

"The lives of the elderly are at risk in the presence of guards who have not been properly screened," says Daniels, who is trying to revoke the agency's license.

The investigation was sparked by residents who complained some guards would brazenly use illegal drugs on the job and threaten tenants, the Post says.
