MANCHESTER, England, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- An Iraqi family living in England is suing the British government over losing 10 relatives in a coalition attack, the London Sun reported Thursday.

Three generations of the Hamoodi family were wiped out April 5 when Allied forces accidentally bombed their home in southern Iraq, spawning what could be a legal precedent in England.

The case could make legal history as the first time the Ministry of Defense has faced a civil claim for unlawful killing.

The strike claimed the lives of Mazin Hamoodi's mother, sister and several nieces and nephews.

Hamoodi, who left Iraq 27 years ago to live in Manchester, learned of the attack while watching Arab TV station al-Jazeera.

Hamoodi is suing, along with brothers Sudad and Anam.

The three are being represented by lawyer Imran Khan, who said the case could test the legality of the entire Iraq conflict and also lead to some redress for the family.
