WASHINGTON, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- The U.S. Census Bureau says single women in the United States outnumber single men by a considerable margin.

A new analysis of Census 2000 data released Monday shows that, of the 221 million people in the United States age 15 or older, there are 86 unmarried men for every 100 unmarried women.

One exception, the bureau says, is the unincorporated Las Vegas suburb of Paradise, Nev., where there are 118 unmarried men for every 100 unmarried women. Other cities with above-average ratios were Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; Tempe, Ariz.; and the California communities of Sunnydale and Santa Ana.
