NEW YORK, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Amy Fisher, who gained fame as a teenager for shooting the wife of her older lover, Joey Buttafuoco, has married, the Long Island Press reported.

The weekly paper, for which Fisher writes a column didn't say who Fisher married or when, but said she will tell all in her next column to be published next Thursday.

In 2001, two years after she got out of prison, Fisher, now 29, bore a son, Brett, with Lou Bellera, a man 24 years her senior.

Whoever Amy's new husband is, he has apparently made her happy.

"I felt just like the world felt, that I was one of those lost girls who was destined for a life of tragedy and despair," the newspaper's statement quoted Fisher as saying.

Fisher served seven years for shooting Mary Jo Buttafuoco in the face on the front porch of the Buttafuocos' home.

Mary Jo stuck by her husband until this year when she filed for divorce. Joey said the split was amicable.
