Guitarist Remo Palmieri was born in New York in 1923. While his early influences were Django Reinhardt and Charlie Christian, Palmieri brought to his guitar playing the melodic and harmonic concepts of saxophonists Coleman Hawkins and Charlie Parker.

He was a featured soloist on Dizzy Gillespie's classic "Groovin' High" recording (on the Guild label) in 1945. That same year, Palmieri began a 27-year stint as guitarist on television's "Arthur Godfrey Show."
