TWO AMA COUNTRY NOMINEES NOT BEST FRIENDS
Comments exchanged between Dixie Chick Natalie Maines and Toby Keith -- each with two American Music Award nominations -- make up just part of the controversy surrounding the 2003 AMA show.
Earlier this year Maines said Keith's "Courtesy Of The Red, White & Blue (The Angry American)" was an "ignorant" song.
That comment drove Keith to say at a concert last month, "I don't give a damn" about Maines' remark, the Nashville Tennessean reports.
The Dixie Chicks are up for the AMA country award for favorite album and best group, while Keith is nominated for best male artist and album.
AMA Executive Producer Dick Clark is taking heat for several other elements of the Jan. 13 show, not the least of which is the selection of Ozzy Osbourne and his family to host the program.
SHEDAISY IN ORANGE BOWL HALFTIME SHOW
Country music sister act SHeDAISY is in the lineup to perform at the FedEx Orange Bowl in Florida on New Year's Day.
The trio joins other artists in the show's "Beat On The Beach" theme for halftime festivities during the game considered the championship of college football.
CHICKS' TV SPECIAL 'INTIMATE'
Next month's Dixie Chicks television special on NBC will be different than their telecast two years ago.
"It's really, I think, gonna be an intimate moment about the music," Natalie Maines tells LAUNCH. "It's definitely gonna be a very different special and that's why we were up for doing it."
The special, "An Evening With The Dixie Chicks," was taped at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles last August.
It is scheduled to air Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. EST.
