MUSIC AND MORE CHICKS' NEW ALBUM NOT FOR KIDS The Dixie Chicks' new album, "Home," hits stores Tuesday with a more traditional country sound, one that Natalie Maines believes might be less appealing to their youngest fans. While performing some of the songs from the album at recent concerts, Maines noticed youngsters were not paying much attention to the new stuff. But Maines says the Chicks could not go anywhere but the hard-core country direction they took on "Home." One critic who was able to listen to the new album said it's "traditional and timely, down-home and uptown all at once, the back porch of a penthouse." "Long Time Gone," a track on the new album, is No. 2 on Billboard's singles chart. REBA WORKING ON SITCOM'S SECOND SEASON Reba McEntire has begun shooting episodes of her TV sitcom's second season, with the premiere of "Reba" set for late September on the WB network. Advertisement First-season reruns of the show will be broadcast by CMT Sept. 14 and 15. McEntire also is to be featured on the cover of Rosie magazine's November issue, and Family Circle is planning an article on her humanitarian work in its October issue. JO DEE SINGS FOR HER SLIM-FAST Starting today, Jo Dee Messina can be heard singing on commercials for Slim-Fast granola bars. The spots were recorded in Nashville for nationwide airplay. Slim-Fast sponsored Jo Dee's summer tour, "It's Your Life."
