MUSIC AND MORE MINNIE PEARL TRIBUTE SET AT OPRY The Grand Ole Opry will mark its 4,000th consecutive Saturday night radio show on Aug. 31 with a tribute to the late Minnie Pearl. Vince Gill, Clint Black and Steve Wariner will perform and the 2002 Minnie Pearl Humanitarian Award will be presented by last year's winner, Kathy Mattea. Wariner will play Pearl's favorite song, "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?" The tribute will be carried by CMT and heard online at opry.com. RANDY'S LATEST SPIRITUAL ALBUM OUT OCT. 1 An Oct. 1 release date has been set for "Rise and Shine," Randy Travis's collection of 13 original inspirational songs, on Word Records. Travis co-wrote six of the songs with producer Kyle Lehning, hoping to match the success of his first spiritual effort, "Inspirational Journey," which won two Dove Awards. Advertisement DEANA CARTER AVOIDS JAIL IN DRUNK DRIVING CASE Country singer Deana Carter pleaded guilty to driving while impaired and was sentenced to community service stemming from a drunk driving arrest last year. Carter avoided jail time by entering the plea in a Nashville court last Thursday. Police charged her with drunken driving Dec. 21 when an officer smelled alcohol on her breath after stopping her for traveling 48 miles per hour in a 30-mile-per-hour zone. Carter was sentenced to 16 hours of community service at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and fined $500.
