Advertisement Fatone, 25, who has acted before and appears in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," will play the part of aspiring filmmaker Mark from Aug. 5 through Dec. 22. The play, set in New York's lower east side and patterned after "La Boheme," follows the struggles of young artists trying to make it in the Big Apple. STONES TO ROLL ON SIMPSONS The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger and Keith Richards open their tour Sept. 3 in Boston but their cartoon likenesses will rock out in Springfield with Homer Simpson in November. The Glimmer Twins will appear on the cartoon series in an episode that sends Homer to a rock fantasy camp. Advertisement Aerosmith, Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney and U2 all have appeared on previous Simpsons episodes. TRAVIS TOUR INTERRUPTED BY INJURY Travis was forced to cancel a series of European concerts in Italy, France and Ireland after drummer Neil Primrose suffered a head injury. Primrose was injured while swimming on Sunday in Belfort, France, according to the band's management, and suffered a fractured vertebrae. Travis was touring in support of its latest album "The Invisible Band." BOWIE'S ZIGGY STARDUST FILM SURFACE After nearly 30 years, D. A. Pennebaker's documentary of David Bowie's historic glam-rock tour "Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars" made its theatrical debut at New York's film forum. The terrible quality of the film's audio and visual elements might explain the long delay. The film was slammed by critics but John Anderson wrote in Newsday: "Pennebaker ... captures the embryonic stages of today's fascism of celebrity with a gin-eyed clarity." ESSENCE FESTIVAL TOPS RECORD The Essence Festival, New Orleans' annual Fourth of July weekend celebration of rhythm and blues, broke attendance records in its eighth renewal last week, according to organizers. Advertisement The 223,000 attendees topped last year's figure of 195,000 at the three-day bash, which featured a star-studded lineup highlighted by Alicia Keys, India.Arie, and Luther Vandross at venues around the Big Easy, including three concerts at the Superdome. THE HIP-HOP BARBERSHOP Epic Records has recruited a group of music's biggest stars to contribute to the soundtrack to the soon-to-be-released motion picture, "The Barbershop." The compact disc features music from Ginuwine, Fabolous, Sean P. Diddy Combs, Jagged Edge, Glenn Lewis, Amel Larrieux, and others. The soundtrack's first release, "Stingy," by Epic Records platinum-plus selling artist Ginuwine already is a hit at Urban Radio. Fabolous provides the up-tempo "Trade It All Pt. 2." The soundtrack also features P. Diddy and Jagged Edge. The movie is centered around a neighborhood barbershop and stars Cedric the Entertainer, Sean Patrick Thomas, Eve and Ice Cube. The MGM release opens in theaters on Sept. 13. FROM DR. EVIL TO KEITH MOON Surviving members of The Who have given the OK for comedian Mike Myers of "Austin Powers" fame to play the role of Who drummer Keith Moon, who died in 1978. Advertisement Myers, whose goofy, rubberlegged portrayal of Austin Powers turned the character into a slapstick cult hero, seems a perfect choice to play the madcap drummer, whose offstage antics are some of the most outrageous anecdotes in rock history. Who singer Roger Daltrey has been entertaining the idea of a Moon film for a long time and has been in serious discussions with Myers about the role. Myers stars in the third Austin Powers film, "Austin Powers in Goldmember," scheduled for a July 26 release.
