PAT GREEN BEATEN IN ATTACK

Police on South Padre Island, Texas, confirm that singer-songwriter Pat Green was attacked at the resort by a man in his early 20s.

Green reportedly received "severe facial fractures" and was taken to a hospital in nearby Brownsville. Police say the attacker struck while Green was with family and friends, enjoying the late-afternoon sun. The assailant is being charged with assault and has a court date for this week.

Green, according to CMT, had just played a concert on South Padre. After the attack, his manager had to cancel a planned appearance in Corpus Christi. That concert will eventually be rescheduled.

Green is best known for his recent hits "Carry On" and "Three Days."
