SAG AWARDS NOMINATIONS

The honors keep on coming for Russell Crowe and Sissy Spacek. The two are among the nominees for the eighth annual SAG Awards, announced Tuesday in Los Angeles by the Screen Actors Guild.

Crowe was nominated for outstanding male actor in a leading role for his portrayal of the schizophrenic, Nobel Prize-winning mathematician John Forbes Nash Jr. in "A Beautiful Mind." Spacek was nominated for outstanding female actor in a leading role for her work as a woman struggling to cope with the tragic loss of a child in "In the Bedroom."

The guild -- which calls its award the Actor -- uses the term "female actor" instead of the word "actress."

Both Crowe and Spacek recently won Golden Globe Awards for their performances.

The other nominees for the SAG Actor award for male actor in a leading role are Kevin Kline ("Life as a House"), Sean Penn ("I Am Sam"), Denzel Washington ("Training Day") and Tom Wilkinson ("In the Bedroom"). The other nominees for the SAG Actor award for female actor in a leading role are Halle Berry ("Monster's Ball"), Jennifer Connelly ("A Beautiful Mind"), Judi Dench ("Iris") and Renée Zellweger ("Bridget Jones's Diary").

In the TV categories, the HBO crime family drama "The Sopranos" and the NBC White House drama "The West Wing" received four nominations each.

The 8th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be presented March 10 in Los Angeles, in ceremonies to be televised live on TNT. Ed Asner will receive the guild's 38th Annual Life Achievement Award.

BAFTA NOMINATIONS

"The Lord of the Rings" and "Moulin Rouge" are the leaders for this year's Bafta nominations, with 12 each.

"Gosford Park" and the French film "Amelie" each received nine nominations from the Orange British Academy, while "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" (released in the United States as "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone") garnered seven nods, BBC1.com reports.

The Orange British Academy Film Awards will be handed out Feb. 24 in London.

HASTY PUDDING AWARDS

Sarah Jessica Parker and Bruce Willis are the Harvard University's Hasty Pudding Theatricals woman and man of the year.

The stars of "Sex and the City" and the upcoming movie "Hart's War" will receive their traditional pudding pots at separate ceremonies next month.

Parker gets a parade through Harvard Square on Feb. 7 leading up to the presentation at the Hasty Pudding Theater. Willis gets his honor one week later.

The club said it is recognizing Parker not only for her talent, but also for being a "dedicated humanitarian." The actress serves as national ambassador for the U.S. fund for UNICEF.

DON RICKELS

Venerable funnyman Don Rickels isn't about to retire. The 75-year-old insult expert has just signed a major two-year contract with the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, N.J., that will see him performing in at least five major engagements.

The casino confirms that Rickels' initial gig at the facility's main showroom will be in late April of this year.

When not on the East Coast, Rickels performs in Las Vegas at the Stardust.
