Nintendo announces new 'Pokemon' games 'Ultra Sun,' 'Ultra Moon' for 3DS

June 6 (UPI) -- Nintendo has announced two new games in its long-running Pokemon series for the company's portable console, the Nintendo 3DS.

The titles, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, unveiled Tuesday during a special Pokemon-focused Nintendo Direct press conference. The games are revamped versions of Pokemon Sun and Moon, which were released for the 3DS in November.

Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will feature new Pokemon to capture, an expansion of the world and story of the Alola region from the first games and new versions of legendary Pokemon Solgaleo and Lunala, Polygon reported.

Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will be released on Nov. 17.

Nintendo also announced a revamped version of Pokemon fighting game Pokken Tournament for the Nintendo Switch, titled Pokken Tournament DX.

Originally released for the Wii U, DX will introduce new features such as three-on-three battles, online ranked play, friend-only group matches and the ability to play with friends using the Switch's Joy-Con controllers.

The game also features new playable characters, including Darkrai, Scizor, Empoleon, Croagunk and Decidueye, IGN reported.
