St. Louis Firefighters Hold Vigil For Dead Firefighter

St. Louis firefighters stand guard outside of the Medical Examiners office as they hold vigil for fellow firefighter Benjamin Polson in St. Louis on Friday, January 14, 2022. Polson was killed in a vacant house fire on January 13, 2022. The death is the first St. Louis firefighter to die in a fire in nearly 20 years. It is tradition in the fire service, for firefighters to remain with the body of a fireman killed in action 24 hours a day, until laid to rest. Photo by Bill Greenblatt/UPI
