The U.S. military released a side-by-side comparison of the compound where Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) was hiding out, before and after the raid by U.S. special operations forces on October 26, 2019. No collateral damage to adjacent structures. General Kenneth McKenzie, head of U.S. Central Command, said the destroyed buildings were left looking like "a parking lot with large potholes" to prevent the structure from becoming a shrine.
