Rarely does a movie glamour girl become a genuine dramatic star, but Ann-Margret is a shining exception. When she burst into public appearance in 1963 as the star of “Bye Bye Birdie” it was acutely obvious her coils of copper-colored hair, absolutely perfect legs, vibrant singing voice and dancing ability would make an instant star of the beautiful Swedish immigrant.
