Astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr.

Former Astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr., the second man on the Moon (1969), stands besides a full-scale model of the Mars Viking I Lander with its digging arm, extending to the surface at JPL in Pasadena on July 28, 1976. The digging arm dug a trench on the surface of Mars and sent back to Earth, pictures of the trench. Aldrin made a brief visit to the control center to see the model of the Viking I Lander.
