Baby Gorilla Snuggles with Mother at Brookfield Zoo

An infant male western lowland gorilla, snuggles with his mother Kamba at Brookfield Zoo on October 7, 2015 in Brookfield, Illinois. The infant was born September 23, 2015 to Kamba, 11, and JoJo, 35, who was brought to the zoo in 2012 based on a recommendation from the Association of Zoos and AquariumsÕ Western Lowland Gorilla Species Survival Plan. Western lowland gorillas are critically endangered primarily due to commercial hunting for the bushmeat trade, diseases such as the Ebola virus, as well as the illegal pet trade and habitat destruction from logging.
