JOHNNY CARSON DEAD AT 79

Fans and local residents left an assortment of mementos and messages on the base of the dedication sculpture at Johnny Carson Park in Burbank, California, across from the NBC studios where "The Tonight Show" is taped January 24, 2005. Talk show host Johnny Carson, who hosted NBC's Tonight Show for thirty years, died at the age of 79 from complications due to emphysema at his home in Malibu on January 23, 2005.
