Adam West honored with "bat signal" at city hall in Los Angeles
Thousands of people, including families with young children, thronged downtown Los Angeles Thursday night sporting Batman attire and other superhero garb to pay tribute to actor Adam West, best known for playing the Caped Crusader on the 1960s television show "Batman". The Batman "bat signal" was projected onto Los Angeles City Hall in a tribute to the late actor in Los Angeles on June 15, 2017. West, who portrayed Batman in the classic 1966-68 TV series of the same name, died on June 9 at the age of 88. The "bat-signal" was used in the television show when the fictitious Gotham City Police Department needed to summon the superhero. Photo by Jim Ruymen/UPI
