Winners of the 2019 Nobel Prizes are Announced
British scientist Peter Ratcliffe, Director for the Target Discovery Institute within the Nuffield Department of Medicine at Oxford University and Director of Clinical Research at Francis Crick Institute, London, along with Americans William G. Kaelin, Jr. and Gregg Semenza, was on October 7, 2019, awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their work on identifying how cells sense changes in oxygen levels and adapt to them; revolutionary work for treating cancer, anemia, strokes and high-altitude sickness.
