Palestinian Muslims Buy Sheep And Goats For Eid Al-Adha, Bethlehem
Sheep and goats wait to be bought at a Palestinian market before the Muslim feast of Eid al-Adha, in Bethlehem, West Bank, August 30, 2017. Eid al-Adha, also called "Feast of the Sacrifice", commemorates Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son Ismael, as an act of obedience to God. However, God intervened by sending his angel Jibra'il, who offered a ram in place of the boy. The four day holiday begins on September 1, when Muslims will pray, sacrifice a sheep or goat and keep a third for the family, give another third to family and friends and donate the final third to people in need. - Photo by Debbie Hill/UPI
