Archeologists Uncover Ancient Administrative Center From First Temple Period

An archeologist of the Israel Antiquities Authority holds a clay face of a woman found during excavations of a significant administrative storage center from the days of Kings Hezekiah and Menashe (8th century to middle of the 7th century BCE) uncovered near the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. The clay figures of women and animals were used in pagan worship in the Kingdom of Judah. More than 120 seal impressions stamped on jars were found in the excavations, showing evidence of tax collection in the period of the Judean monarchs in the Kingdom of Judah, 2,700 years ago.
