Steve Fossett tries to circle the globe in a balloon

LOUIS, June 23 (UPI) -- Jeremy Raphael, a recent business graduate from Washington University and student intern at Mission Control for balloonist Steve Fossett, moves a small balloon on a map of the world that tracks Fossett during his current attempt to solo circumnavigate the globe, at Washington University in St. Louis on June 23, 2002. Fossett is currently over the South Pacific in his fifth day of travel. Fossett has tried the similar attempt five previous times. rlw/bg/Bill Greenblatt UPI
