Evacuations Begin After Kakhovka Dam Blast
Rescue workers conduct an evacuation operation in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 after Kakhovka dam and hydroelectric power plant on the Dnieper River was destroyed. While both Ukraine and Russia oficials accused each other of destroying the Nova Kakhovka dam in the Russian-controlled part of the Kherson region, Ukrainian authurities started the evacuations from several villages on the right bank of the Dnipro River due to a high risk of flooding.
