Lunar Prospector set to destroy itself in search of water ice
MOF99073001 - 30 JULY 1999 - MOFFETT FIELD, CALIFORNIA, USA: The Hubble Space telescope, NASA's deep space network and other scientific instruments will have their sensors pointed toward the moon July 31, as the Lunar Prospector spacecraft, seen here in an artists rendering released by NASA, is set to plough into a crater in the south pole of the moon in an attempt to stir up lunar soil in search of water.
