Iran prepares for Yalda the longest night of the year
An Iranian fruit seller sets up an orange in his shop in Tehran, Iran on December 20, 2007. Iranians celebrate the longest night of the year known as Shabe Yalda (Yalda Night) or Shabe Chelle. The celebration dates back thousands of years to the time when Zoroastrianism was the predominant religion of ancient Persia. The celebration recognizes the symbolic victory of light over darkness and following the night of Yalda, days become longer. (UPI Photo/Mohammad Kheirkhah)
