ASTRONAUT NOWAK CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED FIRST-DEGREE MURDER

STS-121 Mission Specialist Lisa Nowak prepares for her first space flight with the fitting of her launch and entry suit on July 1, 2006. Nowak was charged on February 6, 2007 with attempted first degree murder, attempted kidnapping, and three other charges related to an incident with crew mate Colleen Shipman. Orlando Police say that Nowak drove 900 miles and donned a disguise before confronting Shipman, who she believed was a competitor for the affections of Navy Cmdr.
